Many students start learning Pre-Calculus usually in the last 3 years of high school. Pre-Calculus is the much easier version of Calculus and is meant to gradually get students into many Calculus courses.

Introduction to Calculus

Many students start learning Pre-Calculus usually in the last 3 years of high school. Pre-Calculus is the much easier version of Calculus and is meant to gradually get students into many Calculus courses.

Factoring

Factoring is the most important part of Calculus. Without it, the student is most likely screwed because Calculus teachers will review factoring at the beginning of the semester. Calculus teachers can make a prediction on how well the student will do based on how well they can factor a trinomial. Students should know how to get a trinomial back to two binomials. When it's their first time doing factoring, teachers value work to be shown to ensure the student did not cheat. In future Pre-Calculus classes, the student can skip straight to the answer. Just like how students learn basic operations in elementary, when students get used to factoring, they can do it in their head easily. Many Calculus students value factoring a lot. They rely on it for all of their homework. Factoring is essential for Calculus as a whole.

Integrals

Integrals are another part of Calculus in general. Students may get confused when they see them for the first time, but as they start to become more familiar with them, they can realize it's just subtraction and multiplication. Students will learn integrals way later in their Calculus career. Students are expected to know and follow the formula for integrals. Many Calculus teachers teach integrals later through the semester as to not have students overwhelmed as much. Integrals are a core part of higher-level Calculus that eventually passes forward to college-level Calculus. Integrals are used for calculating area more accurately. If students only used basic area formulas, it will take much longer to write all of the steps and can overwhelm the student much more than they need to, so integrals are used to save time with area equations.
