English First Peoples 12

English First Peoples 12 is after Literary Studies 11 or Pre-AP Incentive Literary Studies 11. The course is mainly focused on the First People's languages and literatures. Students should be able to effectively communicate in a broad range of contexts, understand deeply about the past, present, and future of Canada, and know what being an educated student is like. The course reaches the graduation requirement of having 4 credits in an English subject.

Big Ideas

Text exploration deepens understanding about the diverse and complex ideas about the identity of First Peoples, the understanding of others, and the nature of the world. Spoken and written texts are constructed in a way that is social, cultural, geographical, and historical. Voices of First Peoples are well-spoken and thorough. The texts and stories of the First Peoples share a meaning with Canada's past, present, and future. First Peoples text are self-representing to express justice in law. The voices and texts of First Peoples contribute to Truth and Reconciliation.
