Social Studies Topics
Social Studies covers a wide range of history topics. Many of them are related to famous wars or famous people. History can show a student the dark side of the past and how the present has been influenced.

The Past
All Social Studies classes talk about a certain point in the past. Early on, students learn from way before Jesus was born to near the 16th century. Later, students start learning about the Industrial Revolution. Even later, students will start learning about 20th century wars and events. Sometimes, a topic might be too difficult for a student to handle. Students will learn how the past is not friendly and not any better than the present.
Wars & Propaganda
Back in the early-mid 20th century, countries started using propaganda to emphasize themselves and make the people see the enemy as a ruthless, evil creature which does not deserve to be alive. Students should learn that propaganda is false and biased. Students will be expected to learn how to spot reliable and unreliable sources based on certain aspects of the source they are looking at. Most propaganda they see should not be true.
